Once enrolled in Study Abroad, you will have the chance to select the volunteer opportunity that's most interesting to you.

When you work with The CCS Education & Literacy Project in Costa Rica, you’ll support educators and caretakers by providing active assistance during the school day. You'll also assist in the planning and development of school lessons and activities.

When you work with The CCS Child Development Project in Costa Rica, you’ll find that there are a lot of children who’ve been abused, neglected, or abandoned. Our partner organizations are often the only places where these children can receive shelter and food. As a volunteer, you'll join our partners in providing much needed care and love.

When you work with The CCS Aging with Dignity Project in Costa Rica, you’ll support people working to provide a safe and caring place for the elderly. The special centers where you'll volunteer have been established in order to offer important health services, shelter, social opportunities, and warm meals for often marginalized residents of the local community.

When you work with The CCS Support for People with Disabilities Project in Costa Rica, you’ll have a chance to assist either children or adults. Children with disabilities are often marginalized, making it nearly impossible for them to integrate into their families and society at large. Special education schools support these children by providing education, attention, and physical and recreational therapy. Our partner center for adults with disabilities offers support and education needed to happily integrate with members of the local community. The love, care, and assistance of our volunteers bolsters the positive impact on the lives of these individuals.

When you work with The CCS HIV/AIDS Project in Costa Rica, you'll support individuals living with HIV/AIDS in care centers or their own homes. Through your care, love, and companionship, you'll help to break down harmful stigma while providing much-needed medical, psychological, and social interaction to both patients and their families.

Women and girls often lack resources to inform and provide for their health, educational, and developmental needs. In Costa Rica, work alongside community partners to provide valuable education for women on sexual health, nutrition, and child development. With The CCS Girls' & Women’s Empowerment Project, you’ll assist with health education and outreach for women affected by HIV/AIDS, create public health campaigns for the sexual and reproductive rights of women, or prepare workshops for orphanages on the care and development of children. Through your work, you’ll expand opportunities for women and girls, empowering them to build stronger communities.

Social changes in Costa Rica have changed the realities and challenges in health care for many members of the population. As the population is growing older, and immigration has increased from neighboring countries, there’s an increased need for education and outreach to create better health outcomes for all. Your work in The CCS Global Health Project will address global health needs across the population, from providing care to the older & wiser to providing education to girls & women across the community. Your efforts to focus on the social determinants of health will provide benefits for years to come for those most in need of support.
