Squads Abroad is a program division of Cross-Cultural Solutions that offers volunteer programs for Middle and High School groups in Guatemala, Costa Rica, Peru, and Ghana. Squads partner with schools to improve health and education outcomes through classroom support and small construction projects. Squad trips are typically 7-10 days in duration and comprised of 6-20 students traveling with 2 teacher-chaperones. As a Squads Abroad Program Specialist you will communicate with students, parents, and teachers and have the opportunity to gain first hand knowledge of how a volunteer student group organization works; from recruitment, marketing and back-end systems to the development work on the ground addressing social issues. You will have the opportunity to live abroad in Latin America where you will spend 2 days per week volunteering and co-leading students groups and 3 days per week in an office setting- supporting recruitment, enrollment, trip preparations, and facilitation of Squads Abroad student volunteer groups.

Contract Duration: 10 - 12 months
Location: Costa Rica

You Are Responsible For

Duties include but are not limited to:
-Establishing and managing individual and group enrollment accounts.
-Establishing and managing group fundraising pages and campaigns.
-Communicating through email with lead teachers, enrolled students and parents.
-Creating presentations, coordinating and conducting group conference calls with Squad participants and families.
-Creating and emailing volunteer packets and pre-trip information
-Leading pre-trip video conferences
-Managing accounts receivable
-Volunteer and participate in group activities at least 2x week
-Provide hands-on support and supervision with Squad groups as needed including weekend travel excursions and evening activities.
-Manage alumni follow-up and campaigns.

Requirements for Crushing It
-Experience working with teenage students, parents, and teachers.
-Experience living or traveling extensively abroad.
-Spanish proficiency
-Enthusiasm for different cultures and impactful service
-Tech and Social media savvy.
-Ninja fast typing skills
-You are self-motivated. You’ll be surrounded by distractions but the work must get done!
-Must provide your own computer and headset - we’ll set up the rest!

Bonus Points
-Previous experience volunteering on a CCS program and/or youth group volunteer travel programs.
-Previous experience working with Middle or High School students.
-Photography skills
-Storytelling experience
-You spend your free time at home volunteering.
