2016: Setting Intentions for the Year of You
This is going to be your year! Here are 3 Resolutions you’ll want to keep at the top of your list for 2016.
Volunteering makes you happy, according to a special health report published by Harvard Health Publications. Offering an extra set of hands or a few hours of your time could mean that a project gets done today as opposed to next month. Do some research on volunteer opportunities and see which causes stir your passion. Is it helping out at the local food bank? Teaching children in another country? Whatever it is, your help will make a world of difference.
There’s almost never a convenient time to pack your bags and get away which is why it’s important to make time this New Year. It’s easy to get lost in a sea of work or excuses, but promise yourself at least one travel adventure every year. And traveling doesn’t have to mean high costs and lengthy stays – in fact, taking a few days off from life for a quick road trip can be the perfect “breather” from a stressful week.
Personal growth is probably the most important resolution you should keep in 2016 (and onward!). Spend some time reflecting on all the ways you’ve grown this past year, and set intentions for how you want to improve in 2016. How can you continue to be the best version of yourself? In what ways can you challenge yourself to go beyond your comfort zone? When is the last time you set out for your “Eat, Pray, Love” journey?
For a fun reflection exercise, write down all the things you invest your time in and roughly how many hours per day you spend on each activity. Then, identify the areas you’d like to put more time in and decide what changes need to be made in order to make it happen. Replace every “I wish” with “I will” and you’ll soon find yourself in a much happier place!
