OTHER CCS PROGRAMS
Our Child Health Interns work in partnership with Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Centers in Ghana to provide health outreach and educational services to rural communities, focusing on child health, nutrition, malaria prevention, and reproductive health. These centers are typically small, one room structures staffed by Community Health Nurses and Community Health Advocates. Alongside these professionals, interns will gain experience supporting small rural clinics, conducting health workshops at schools, and doing home visits to improve access of health services for under resourced families and communities.
As a Child Health Intern, you will work alongside Community Health Nurses in rural Ghanaian communities to:
- Host clinics in CHPS centers to weigh and measure children, provide nutrition assessments to families, and conduct small group community health workshops focused on reproductive rights, malaria prevention, and child nutrition.
- Conduct home visits to at-risk families for child health follow-up and disease assessment, focusing on the home environment and malaria risk indicators
- Develop and provide health workshops to community schools and organizations focusing on nutrition, general well-being, and adolescent girl's health.
