Days for Girls: Female Health and Hygiene in Rural Ghana

CCS Ghana and local NGO Days for Girls have teamed together to create a 1 week program to introduce and teach basics on female health and hygiene to boys and girls in junior high schools in the Volta region of Ghana.

  • Day 1, Training: Receive professional training from a Days for Girls representative on presenting fundamental information on the reproductive system, menstrual cycles, and personal hygiene.
  • Day 2, Empowerment: Teach your own lesson on a topic related to empowerment such as self-defense, healthy lifestyles, career or personal development, emotional well-being, or a new skill!
  • Days 3- 5, Curriculum & Distribution: Present Days for Girls to female students & Men Who Know to male students through a dedicated curriculum, including lessons on sanitation, sexual health, self-defense, and women's empowerment. Then, distribute reusable menstrual kits to female students, which reduce waste and financial burden in communities where access to hygiene materials is a struggle.
