Get to know the CCS drivers

I wanted to take a moment to give a shout out to some of the unsung heroes of the Cross-Cultural Solutions programs: the CCS drivers! Our drivers are such an important part of the in-country teams, and in each destination, you'll find that they are some of the warmest and most friendly characters, too.

Meet John (or as volunteers call him, Papa John), CCS driver, Tanzania:

The CCS drivers work day and night (literally) to ensure that our volunteers are safely transported from point A to B. Each and every morning, they check our vehicles to ensure that they're in excellent working order so that you'll always arrive to your destination safe and sound. So what exactly are they checking? How about the wipers, lights, mirrors, tire pressure, and seat belts. And that's just the start of the list!

Meet Ivan, CCS driver, Brazil:

When you arrive at your volunteer destination country and make your way through the airport, the CCS driver will be one of the first people that you'll meet. And he will be standing there in his CCS t-shirt with a smile on his face, waiting to welcome you to your new home.

Whether you're practicing your newly acquired language skills, getting a pep talk en route to your volunteer placement, or learning about the intricacies of your new community, you'll find that some of your favorite memories will be memories of the moments that you shared with the CCS driver. Have a great memory of your in-country driver? Share it here!
