Safety and Support
"Because of the program structure you feel safe and comfortable and it releases all your fears so you're just worry-free and able to do what you want to do. I thought that was excellent and I would definitely feel so comfortable going with CCS again."Barbara D'Louhy, Russia volunteer

Each Home-Base is exclusively for CCS volunteers, and designed for your safety and comfort. It's your home away from home. Here, you can connect with other volunteers and CCS staff, reflect on your experiences, enjoy meals together, read, and relax.
The CCS Office is located in the Home-Base, giving you unlimited access to our staff and all they have to offer. Our staff members are always locally born and based, so they know the community intimately. In fact, even before the first volunteer arrives, our staff have established relationships with the best medical professionals available in the area and the local grassroots organizations where our volunteers work. As we select our partners in the community, safety is always on our mind. They've also determined on-site security measures based on the cultural norms of the country.
At the CCS Home-Base you can trust that our staff cooks will provide food that is safe and healthy to eat, and reflects the local cuisine. Plus, unlimited safe drinking water is always available. If you have dietary restrictions or food-related health concerns, our cooks will accommodate their menus to ensure your comfort and safety.
CCS staff drivers are at the airport waiting for you when you arrive in-country. We always wait for delayed flights. Always.
Our staff drivers also bring you to and from your Volunteer Placement or Cultural and Learning Activities. And, they know the area intimately so they can give you the best advice about how to travel safely in the community during your Free Time.
All CCS vehicles are purchased with safety as the top priority. Our vehicles are insured and are regularly inspected for safety.
Of course, you're automatically covered with Travel Medical Insurance & Emergency Evacuation Assistance.
Policies and protocol are put in place by our expert staff to handle any kind of personal, local, or national emergency. CCS staff always registers the volunteers with their Embassy upon arrival. They stay attuned to local happenings and monitor all news and information. They are constantly there for you. Plus, we maintain a toll-free, 24-hour hotline in the U.S. for friends and family to reach CCS staff regarding any urgent matters.
