Volunteering abroad is a rich learning experience for teenagers.
Whether joined by your family or a group, or traveling independently, Cross-Cultural Solutions programs welcome volunteers of all ages. Volunteering abroad during school breaks is a great way to combine time off from school with an interest in international travel and learning about other cultures. Whether you're a regular volunteer back at home, or simply interested in experiencing another culture, the CCS Experience ensures that you focus on the experience of international volunteering instead of the logistics of overseas travel.
CCS programs are typically designed for participants 18 and older, but teens are always welcome with a parent, legal guardian, or a person appointed by a parent or guardian. Volunteering as a family is an insightful and personally rewarding experience for all family members and is a great alternative to the typical family vacation. Teens may also participate in a group with a chaperone. Read more about our age policy.
Teens Only Start Dates are available in 2008 for participants ages 15-17 who are traveling without a parent or guardian. For nine days, Teens volunteer as a group, share in various cultural and recreational activities, and enjoy weekend activities in the local community. A CCS Home-Base is dedicated entirely to the Teens Only group, and CCS in-country staff is available 24/7. From the staff cooks to drivers to housekeepers, teens and parents can rest assured that safety is, as always, our number one priority.
