Other Options for Credit

Cross-Cultural Solutions can provide you with an Academic Program Description of the Intern Abroad program. We recommend that you first meet with your academic advisor to determine whether your college will grant credit for your internship. In the event that they will not grant credit, here are other options for obtaining academic credit.

Note: be sure to check with your home university to ensure that these credits will transfer.

Seattle Central Community College

Professor Steve Tash, adjunct faculty member with Seattle Central Community College (SCCC) offers a course for International Internships. SCCC is accredited by Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, but is in no way affiliated with Cross-Cultural Solutions.

Professor Tash will explain that you can intern with Cross-Cultural Solutions and receive credit by enrolling in one of two courses. The first, course number INT 197, grants 3 Semester Credits (or 5 Quarter Credits) for a 4-week program. The second, course INT 198, grants 6 Semester Credits (or 10 Quarter Credits) for an 8-week program.

To receive credit, you may enroll in an internship with Cross-Cultural Solutions and fulfill the following course requirements:

- Submit a daily journal of your experience

- Write a Final Report about your experience

- Complete 99 internship hours (for 3 credits)

- Complete 190 internship hours (for 6 credits)

Note that no class attendance is required - only attendance at the internship. On the Cross-Cultural Solutions Intern Abroad program, interns work approximately 25 hours per week. Therefore, to earn 3 credits, you would enroll for a 4 week program. To earn 6 credits, you would enroll for 8 weeks. All participants in the Intern Abroad program receive a CCS Journal which you can use to chronicle your experience.

If you would like to enroll in this internship course, you should contact Professor Tash via email at travelstudy@yahoo.com. Professor Tash will assist you in completing the necessary paperwork to enroll in the course. SCCC charges $350 for 3 Semester Credits (or 5 Quarter Credits) and $700 for 6 Semester Credits (or 10 Quarter Credits). Again, you would still be responsible for ensuring that credits transfer to your home university.

Please note that the course offered by SCCC is not affiliated with Cross-Cultural Solutions in any way. We simply are outlining this option as one that might be helpful to you as you explore the ways in which you can receive academic credit for this exciting experience.
