Why Volunteer in Bagamoyo?
Bagamoyo (Arabic for 'Lay down your heart') is a city rich in history and culture. Located in the coastal region of Tanzania, it is only 75 Kilometers from Dar es Salaam, the financial capital and the country's largest city. Visiting Dar will give volunteers a taste of a bustling African city, where people who have traveled from all parts of Tanzania and Africa come hoping to find good jobs and "city life," whereas living in the smaller city of Bagamoyo offers a chance to truly get to know the community and local people.
Cross-Cultural Solutions began accepting volunteers in Bagamoyo in the Spring of 2007. International volunteering in Bagamoyo offers an incredible opportunity to experience African culture from inside the community, as well as the chance to make meaningful friendships with wonderful people whose open and welcoming nature will touch your life.
