Teaching Children

"I quickly dispelled any thoughts of “changing the world” and simply became satisfied with seeing one students face light up after understanding something that I showed them. ...we learned that we were providing just a few of the many small steps necessary to accomplish a much larger goal."

John T. Reaghart, Volunteer in Ghana

Teaching AbroadTeaching children helps create a stimulating learning environment for children from low-income communities. New ideas and energy excite the children and provide much needed encouragement for the teachers and parents.

Activities include teaching educational games, arts & crafts, sports, and working alongside local teachers to create new developmentally and culturally appropriate activities for the children. Your presence and support also means that students receive more individual attention and care.

These volunteer placements are available in Brazil, China, Cartago - Costa Rica, Puriscal - Costa Rica, San Carlos - Costa Rica, Ghana, Guatemala City - Guatemala, Quetzaltenango - Guatemala, Dharamsala - India, New Delhi - India, Morocco, Lima - Peru, Ayacucho - Peru, Russia, South Africa, Bagamoyo - Tanzania, Kilimanjaro - Tanzania, Rural Kilimanjaro - Tanzania, Bangkok - Thailand, and Trang - Thailand.

“The experience has enlightened
me about the "sameness" of
people in terms of exchanging
love and friendship and help,
regardless of the nature of our
cultural circumstances.”
