Teaching English
"I had started to wonder if I had made any impact on them at all, and then to see this tiny little 6 year old girl writing her A, B, Cs all by herself, it really felt like I had gotten through. As cheesy as it sounds, I really feel like I’ve found my calling!"Kathryn Hovey, Volunteer in Thailand
Teaching English in low-income communities can increase employment opportunities and ultimately help people to become economically independent. Both inexperienced and experienced volunteers can teach vocabulary, assist with pronunciation and support students as they practice speaking English.
These students, of all ages and backgrounds, appreciate the opportunity to interact with fluent speakers and the extra assistance is welcomed by local teachers. If you are fluent in English you can provide a real contribution to the community and have great fun in the process.
These volunteer placements are available in Brazil, China, Cartago - Costa Rica, Puriscal - Costa Rica, San Carlos - Costa Rica, Ghana, Quetzaltenango - Guatemala, Dharamsala - India, Morocco, Lima - Peru, Ayacucho - Peru, Russia, South Africa, Bagamoyo - Tanzania, Kilimanjaro - Tanzania, Rural Kilimanjaro - Tanzania, Bangkok - Thailand, and Trang - Thailand.
