Caring for People with Disabilities

"[I volunteered at] a computer school for physically disabled people, where I primarily assisted in the classrooms with teaching the different software packages, and also taught some English. I met some great people there, and they really made me feel at home. Soon after, it didn't feel like I was doing volunteer work, I was just helping out some friends."

Justin, Volunteer in Thailand

Volunteering with the disabledCaring for people with disabilities helps create a compassionate and nurturing environment for the physically and mentally disabled. Volunteers provide much needed support and individual attention, and help with their physical and mental development.

As a volunteer, you are energizing the staff by working side-by-side with them and sharing their commitment to meeting the needs of the disabled population. Your presence is also inspiring to other community members, ultimately increasing participation in centers for people with disabilities.

Volunteers help staff provide nutrition, education, and healthcare, and teach life skills. Volunteer work may be assisting with daily routines such as feeding and cleaning, and also assisting with physical therapy, recreational activities, music, and exercise.

These volunteer placements are available in China, Cartago - Costa Rica, Puriscal - Costa Rica, San Carlos - Costa Rica, Guatemala City - Guatemala, Dharamsala - India, New Delhi - India, Lima - Peru, Russia, Kilimanjaro - Tanzania, Rural Kilimanjaro - Tanzania, and Bangkok - Thailand.

people in terms of exchanging
love and friendship and help,
