At CCS, we strive to make the life-changing experience of volunteering abroad as accessible as possible to people with disabilities.

We recognize that people with disabilities may have unique concerns and questions about volunteering abroad, and we commit to working closely together to address them. Our staff works with your individual abilities and interests to ensure that your goals are attainable and the experience is the right fit for you.

Volunteers with mobility restrictions or who use wheelchairs can currently choose from several CCS sites—Costa Rica (Cartago), Ghana (Volta Region), Peru (Lima), and Thailand (Bangkok). Guatemala City may also be an option for volunteers who use manual wheelchairs. The number of wheelchair-accessible Home-Bases will increase in 2009.

We also have experience working with volunteers who are deaf, hard of hearing, visually impaired, and living with mental disabilities. We encourage volunteers with disabilities to contact us to review their individual needs to identify what accessible means to them. Learn more about our relationship with Mobility International USA.

Please contact us for more information. We are happy to answer questions about local resources for people with disabilities, the support our in-country staff provides, and the ability to tailor to individual capabilities.
