Whether you stay one week or three months, your experience as a CCS volunteer will be like no other. You’ll work side-by-side with local people and gain insight into the culture, discover new perspectives on the world and yourself, and develop memories that will last a lifetime. As a CCS volunteer, you’ll make a meaningful contribution by sharing in the goals of a community that warmly welcomes you. But it’s the balance of volunteer work, cultural activities, and free time to use as you choose that helps you reflect on and enjoy your time as an international volunteer.
LOOKING AT ANOTHER CULTURE FROM THE INSIDE OUT
When you arrive in-country, you can hit the ground running, because your presence and commitment to serve are recognized as part of the long-term commitment that CCS has made to the community. Our in-country staff, who are all locally born and based, maintain ongoing relationships with sustainable organizations in the community. So, between our staff and the good will of previous volunteers, you are welcomed as a friend well before you arrive!
The impact of our volunteers is unmistakable, but the volunteer experience is not only about the hours you serve, but also the excitement and fun of experiencing another culture and country on such a deep and personal level. You’ll get the most out of your experience because CCS takes care of all the logistics, and our highly experienced staff supports you through every step of the process so you can focus on your volunteer experience.
A FUN AND REWARDING ADVENTURE
Volunteering abroad — and in another culture — can be both exhilarating and challenging. You’ll accomplish so much, and also make life-long friends. The CCS Home-Base will become your home away from home, with CCS in-country staff as your host family. You’ll bond with community members and fellow volunteers faster than you ever thought possible. You’ll take part in numerous planned CCS activities, and have plenty of time to explore on your own. So whether you’re into dancing and music, venturing to local points of interest, engaging in discussions about culture and customs, or learning the local language so you can better communicate with new friends — it’s all covered.
Many volunteers have described their CCS experience as the experience of a lifetime. Read it in their own words.
