As an international volunteer immersed in another culture, you’ll have many opportunities for learning and self-reflection. While volunteering abroad you will be exposed to different ways of life, religious beliefs, educational approaches, and more. You can learn about the local culture, gain a personal connection to the community, and create a feeling of solidarity with people striving for a better life.

While working side-by-side with local people you will learn about the challenges facing the community, and how local solutions have grown to meet them. You’ll have the chance to see the world in a different light and gain new perspectives on global issues. But personal growth also comes from the excitement and challenge of traveling abroad and interacting with new friends—including your fellow volunteers, CCS staff, and neighbors near the Home-Base.

Even beyond your time volunteering in-country, the experience is a powerful one that can affect how you view the world, and your place in it. Learn what others have to say about how volunteering abroad was the experience of a lifetime.
