Volunteer teaching woodworking skills in Costa Rica.
Share your professional skills and experience and empower people to find the solutions to the challenges they face every day. In many of the communities where we work, globalization has affected local industry—changing employment options and requiring new skills and innovative approaches. New life and business skills are required to thrive in today’s global economy. The challenges vary widely across nations and cultures, and many people are struggling to find innovative ways to generate income. The various local organizations we work with equip community members with vocational training, educate youth on life skills, and provide opportunities for a brighter future.
Share Your Skills, Support Community Development
Working with volunteers from other countries is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for people in the communities we serve, and these personal connections and new friendships are so meaningful. But even beyond the cultural exchange, CCS volunteers offer a fresh perspective to these local initiatives by sharing new and diverse ideas, and applying their skills and experience to the cause. Plus, our volunteers’ presence at local educational centers and organizations offers credibility from the international presence which draws more community members to also use these important local resources.
You can have a real effect sharing your experience with community members within established organizations—teaching computer skills, providing basic sex education, participating in income-generation projects. Or, you can aid the organizations directly by sharing your knowledge with staff members on capacity building, writing grant proposals, fundraising, simple marketing strategies, and organizational planning
Examples of Volunteer Work
You can share your skills, knowledge, and experience in a variety of ways to support community development:

- Teach office skills to young teens preparing to join the workforce in India
Whether you’re a business professional, homemaker, accountant, teacher, writer, nurse, or student, you have something to share.
