Young boy hugging volunteer in Bagamoyo, Tanzania.
Help provide routine care, prevention services, and community outreach to populations affected by HIV/AIDS and the social stigma attached to it.
Join efforts to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS in under-resourced communities hard-hit by the epidemic and the associated stigma, stereotypes, and misconceptions. In many places around the world, people with HIV/AIDS may suffer from severe discrimination, and, as a result, many people who may have HIV/AIDS are too afraid of that discrimination to get tested or seek treatment. CCS volunteers help to support these populations through care and outreach. Volunteers may work with individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS, help to provide routine care, or participate in community outreach efforts. By providing care, attention, and support to people living with HIV/AIDS and their families you can help to reduce stigma and harmful stereotypes within the community. By spreading awareness and educating others about HIV/AIDS and basic sexual health, you can be a part of key prevention efforts.
Volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds are welcome. Placements addressing this need are available in Brazil, Costa Rica, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, and Thailand.
