Volunteer working with people with disabilities in Guatemala.
Work with people with disabilities to provide essential support and break down harmful social stigmas.
In many societies around the world today, there are still strong social stigmas associated with disabilities; as a result, there are often few resources available for people with disabilities and their families. In the communities where we work, the organizations our volunteers serve may be the only ones providing access to rehabilitative care and information for families. You can help provide essential physical and psychological support to children and young adults who have physical and mental disabilities, and lack the resources and social support to address their needs. Through your involvement and support to these under-resourced organizations, your group strengthens the visibility of these services, and contributes to the ongoing community efforts to break down the stereotypes and stigmas attached to people with disabilities.
Volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds are welcome. Placements addressing this need are available in Ghana, Costa Rica, Guatemala, India, Morocco, Peru, Russia, South Africa, and Thailand. As part of our placement process, volunteers will receive their placement according to the needs identified by the community.
