CCS Home-Base in Costa Rica After a day of volunteering or a weekend of travel, it’s important to know that you have a safe and comfortable place to return to. That’s why we provide a Home-Base in each country for all of our volunteers. The CCS Home-Base is your home away from home. Here, you’ll have the chance to connect with CCS staff and fellow volunteers, enjoy healthy, authentic meals, reflect on your experiences, or just relax.

We take care of all of your daily needs, including transportation to and from your volunteer placement. The CCS Office is even located in the Home-Base, giving you unlimited access to our staff and all they have to offer. By providing a CCS Home-Base with a full-time staff, we create a safe and warm environment for all of our volunteers without ever burdening the local community.

Lodging: Our typical housing consists of a comfortable house in a safe, conveniently-located neighborhood. Clean, modest accommodations with shared occupancy rooms are the standard. The CCS Home-Base always has basic amenities like linens and running water (including hot water where appropriate) and access to a telephone. Internet access is within walking distance.

Meals: Home-cooked meals and snacks are another great benefit of the Home-Base. Each day, mealtime is an exciting way to enjoy authentic food provided by CCS staff cooks and to share stories with new friends. The food is delicious and healthy and takes full advantage of local cooking traditions. We make sure to provide plenty of bottled water and fruit juices that are safe to drink.

Transportation: Cross-Cultural Solutions licensed drivers will greet you at the airport upon arrival, and provide you with safe transportation to all volunteer placement sites and Perspectives Programming activities. Our staff also coordinates drop-off at the airport for our volunteers.
