Thousands of CCS volunteers begin their volunteering abroad experience with fundraising. Fundraising for your volunteer program not only helps you fulfill your dream of volunteering abroad, it also helps promote awareness of global issues. Every conversation, letter, and event that explains where and why you plan to volunteer shows people your commitment to serving local communities abroad, and spreads the word about international service. Fundraising can be a fun and enjoyable part of the volunteer abroad experience, and many volunteers who fundraise feel a special sense of fulfillment and a deepened dedication to international volunteering.

CCS fundraisers have engaged their local communities, friends, and family by letter-writing, email campaigns, or events such as concerts, art shows, raffles, and bake sales. Others have received contributions from local businesses and other grant-giving organizations.

“You know, it is amazing to think that I actually raised more than my program fee ... My biggest tip for anyone is not to stress about fundraising; if the first thing you try doesn't work, there are so many options.”
