Volunteer placements are designed with the needs of the local community in mind and in partnership with trusted local organizations with whom we work year-round.
In Teen Volunteer Abroad, the groups of teen volunteers work side-by-side with local people, about four to five hours a day, assigned to orphanages, schools for children with disabilities, community centers for at-risk youth, homes for the elderly, or other grassroots organizations that provide education, health, or social services.
The volunteer work for Teen Volunteer Abroad is project-based, and designed with the goal of accomplishing the project within the 9-day or 2-week program. In previous years, these group projects have included:
- Painting murals in an orphanage
- Urban art photography project
- Playing sports and teaching arts and crafts at a school for children with disabilities
- Planting a garden in an elderly center
- Participating in recreational activities with the community.
A CCS staff member is always on-site to supervise and support the teen volunteers at the local organization.
As requested by the local organizations, placements are always finalized close to the program start date to ensure that they can plan work that is relevant and addresses their immediate needs.
