Volunteer: Kim Young
Intial Program Site: Lima, Peru
Initial Year: 2004

Kim Young has participated in four CCS programs, volunteering with family in Peru three times and also Guatemala. Kim sees volunteering abroad as a family affair, and each time she volunteers she has either her daughters or husband come along. She always believed in instilling the spirit of volunteerism in her daughters, and teaching them about the world, first-hand. For the first trips, her daughters were teenagers, so they got to experience global issues and cultural exchange at a young age. Her dedication to international volunteer work has inspired her daughters to give presentations about their experience and initiate a pen-pal program with the children they volunteered with. Her daughters also say that the experiences have influenced their future career plans. Wherever Kim goes, she always works with children, either caregiving in a daycare or orphanage setting, or teaching in a school or community center.
