"Carroll and Barb" are CCS alumnae who have been on three volunteer programs together in Peru, India, Morocco, and most recently, Guatemala. Both widowed, these two women from Oregon have been housemates for 10 years in order to save their money to be able to travel and volunteer around the world. Carol, a former social worker, and Barbara, a retired nurse, do admirable volunteer work in the U.S. as well. They began working with Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade, non-profit store and with Oasis, a program for senior citizens to tutor children in underserved schools in the U.S. They then went into an Elderhostel service program and tutored first graders in a Navajo school in Arizona before starting to volunteer abroad.
