CCS Partners with HandsOn Network to Encourage Volunteer Service

During National Volunteer Week, Cross-Cultural Solutions (CCS) officially announces its partnership with HandsOn Network (HON), continuing its dedication to mobilize more individuals in volunteer service, both internationally and domestically.

CCS is a recognized leader in the field of international volunteering that has supported over 25,000 people to volunteer abroad since 1995. HON is the volunteer-focused arm of Points of Light Institute and the largest volunteer network in the nation, mobilizing individuals through 250 Action Centers in 16 countries. Together, the two organizations reach hundreds of thousands of people a year who are interested in making a difference through service.

“National Volunteer Week is a wonderful initiative that helps us to recognize the people who are making a difference in communities around the world, and inspire people to get engaged,” said CCS Founder & Executive Director Steve Rosenthal. “It’s a great time to acknowledge our new partnership with the HandsOn Network and recognize our shared efforts to encourage more volunteer service around the world.”

The goals of CCS and HON overlap in that they both aim to empower people to take action and effect positive change in their world, while striving to keep volunteers engaged in both domestic and international service. Through sharing resources, service opportunities, and best practices, CCS and HON plan to mobilize more individuals in volunteer service to improve communities around the world.
The theme of National Volunteer Week 2011 is “Celebrating People in Action,” and it will be observed from April 10th to 16th. National Volunteer Week is an initiative of Points of Light Institute that has been recognized since 1974.
