Cross-Cultural Solutions Releases New Fundraising Resources
June 3, 2009
Cross-Cultural Solutions (CCS), a leading operator of volunteering abroad programs around the world, has launched new online fundraising resources for its volunteers. This new section includes a 10-step guide for successful fundraising, sample letters, press releases to promote fundraising efforts, and innovative widgets to connect with social media networks and personal contacts.
A re-energized national spirit to serve is evident worldwide, but in today’s challenging economy, finding the time and money for a volunteer abroad experience may seem out of reach. With a stronger-than-ever need for mutual understanding between cultures, and so many people looking for a competitive edge in the job market, volunteering abroad has never been more important. But, how do you solve the dilemma of being motivated to volunteer abroad and not being able to afford it?
“We are seeing a lot of success with individual fundraising these days. When you’re motivated to do something good in the world, people appreciate and support you. And it seems counterintuitive, but in today’s economy there are even more reasons to be motivated to volunteer abroad. By volunteering abroad, you are serving others and also making a difference in your own life,” said Kam Santos, Director of Communications at CCS. “On a resume and in school applications, the experience truly stands out; it showcases your character and values and commitment to social change.”
CCS’ new fundraising resources section is designed to help interested volunteers get started and be creative in their approach. There are practical tools — information for sponsors and answers to frequently asked questions; tips on how to use current technology for fundraising efforts; inspiring success stories of previous CCS fundraisers; and more. The CCS website serves as a one-stop shop for everything today’s fundraiser could need.
Along with the new website addition, CCS also plans to bolster its moral support of enrolled volunteers who plan to fundraise — offering a helping hand to keep people motivated and in-line with their goals. Santos said that the overall aim of this effort is to help more people realize their dream of volunteering abroad.
“Fundraising adds another dimension to the volunteer’s experience because it creates a financial and emotional support network of people who are interested in seeing the outcome of work done abroad.”
