Volunteer in Morocco with CCS, and learn about a very different side of Africa. This beautiful North African country borders the Mediterranean Sea and is home to the Sahara Desert. Morocco gained its independence in 1956, after being settled by the Berbers, and then divided and ruled by France and Spain for over 40 years. Morocco is still heavily influenced by its European neighbors and its position at the crossroads of several worlds—African, Mediterranean, Christian, and Islamic. Both Arabic and French languages are widely spoken, and its people embrace many different ethnic backgrounds and faiths.
