Many CCS volunteers have applied for and received a matching grant from VFPServ from working professionals to 50-plusers:
I am 81 years old and living on a limited income but have lots of life experience and lots of energy. I appreciate very much the contribution from VFP and Global Giving. More people would be "out there" working and sharing if more financial aid would be available. I know I would be. They made it easy to collect money, through credit card contributions.

The fundraising was surprisingly easy. I set up my account with VFPServ and then e-mailed friends, colleagues and family members with the link. My description of the volunteer experience posted on the Global Giving Website helped people know what they were donating to, and everyone who read the description of the volunteer experience for which I was fundraising, donated.

I raised the ENTIRETY of my required funds via direct solicitation to friends, family and local community members. I can honestly say that my volunteer experience has changed my life. And, without the assistance of the VFPServ grant, I would have been unable to have this experience. So- thank you, thank you, thank you.
Lisa Schaner, China Volunteer
Participating in this program has solidified my decision and increased my passion for [international development]. For this reason, not only would I recommend a volunteer abroad program to others, but I have already recommended VFP to other friends interested in international service projects. Without VFP, I would not have been able to participate in this program and gain such valuable experience in a country I previously knew little about.

I appreciated CCS’ home base structure and the cultural activities that would provide a ready-made social framework upon which to build my Morocco experience. I also appreciated the ability to fundraise to cover the cost of CCS’ program fee. It is through their web site that I learned of the VFPServ grant.
