Groups Volunteering Abroad We're of the "more the merrier" school of thought. If you're organizing a group of more than five volunteers, we've got some great options that will help you get your entire group from point A to point B-eautiful international volunteering experience, stress-free!

Whether you're looking to enroll a group of colleagues, family members, students, alternative spring breakers, or traveling circus performers, we take all kinds! Plenty of groups travel with us each year, so we've got this down to a science. Get more information on group volunteering with CCS, and request a brochure today. When you're ready to enroll, we'll put you on the phone with a specialist for the destination your group has selected.

For every 8 paying participants for education groups, 1 participant (a chaperone, staff member, or student leader) goes free! If you are leading a group with minor participants, please contact your Group Specialist for information on required chaperones and complimentary programs. In addition, you will receive $500 off every paying group participant if your program ends before June 8, 2015 or begins after August 14, 2015.

Lessons in Brazil: A story of patience

I’ve been living in Salvador, Brazil for six months now. Although my primary CCS service placement is teaching at a community preschool, I also sometimes visit a nonprofit organization in Salvador that works with AIDS patients and individuals who are seropositive for HIV. One of my first days there, another volunteer, Alexander, and I are asked to shave the hair of the patients. It is my first time cutting hair, and the results quickly reveal that fact. Help comes in the form of a patient who used to cut hair on the streets. He teaches us patiently how to hold the razor and guide with our wrist.

Group volunteering: An advisor's perspective

In the summer of 2012, Kirkwood Community College sent our very first group of students overseas to volunteer with Cross-Cultural Solutions. Since then, we have sent students and faculty to Tanzania, Peru, and Costa Rica. And in 2014, I'll be leading my very first group of Cross-Cultural Solutions student volunteers on an immersive cultural experience in Ghana's Volta Region.
