Cultural & Learning Activities in Trang
Building on your volunteer work in Trang, Thailand, Cultural & Learning Activities allow you to engage in conversation with local experts who frequently visit the Home-Base to discuss Thai culture, history, arts, and crafts. Weekly Thai language classes, trips to nearby mountain or beach areas, cooking classes, and a display of shadow play puppetry will also be included in the programming. Volunteers may have the opportunity to learn about Manora and Nora, native dance performances in southern Thailand, and meet with local artisans who produce woven items, wood carvings, and clothing from materials unique to the region.

Free Time in Trang
During Free Time in Trang volunteers will enjoy all the benefits of a tropical island and its scenic, natural beauty. Many unique local festivals are offered, some which celebrate Buddhism, and others which reflect the area's emphasis on food such as the Roasted Pork Festival (September) or Vegetarian Festival (October). Visits to the local Markets or Thai Massage are popular free time options, as well as simply spending time with new friends.
Within just a couple of hours you'll find many beaches and islands that are hidden treasures of the area, many of which have not yet been discovered by tourists. Fishing villages, reservoirs, coconut plantations, and waterfalls are all within a short distance from the town and can be great destinations for weekend travel.

Home-Base in Trang
CCS' Home-Base is located in a residential neighborhood near the university and government offices in the district of Trang. The spacious house includes four bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area, and common space for volunteers. Each air-conditioned bedroom fits four to six participants. There is plenty of outdoor space for sports and seating is available. The neighborhood has amenities such as banks, Internet cafes, post offices, and convenience stores.

In-Country Staff in Trang
Local CCS staff in Trang will welcome you to the community, make you feel at home, and help you better understand Thai culture and history. They will help facilitate your volunteer experience and are always available to answer any questions that may arise. CCS staff is always from the region where we operate—they provide a local perspective, help you learn the local language, and guide you in what to do in your free time.
All of our in-country staff members are warm, loving people who will make sure you are well cared for. Each CCS program site has a Country Director or Program Director and a full staff to take care of all programming, administrative, and logistical needs, as well as housekeepers, drivers, house guards, and cooks. Program Director: Kaeyoon Satawanakoon
Kaeyoon "Khem" Satawanakoon is originally from Trang and has studied abroad in Canada, the US, and China. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics from an accredited university in Bangkok. Having grown up in Trang, she has a great knowledge of the area and is very proud to share the wonderful culture with CCS volunteers. She also has a great understanding of the needs of the community and has formed many excellent relationships with the partner programs.
Program Assistant: Poramesta "Jack" Nitsiri
Jack was born and raised in Songkhla province and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration. As Program Assistant, Jack assists in the development of volunteer site placement. He is responsible for making initial contact with local organizations, conducting site assessment and planning how CCS volunteers can best be utilized. Jack often visits volunteers at their placements and provides cultural advice and assistance. He also schedules the transportation of volunteers, helps with administrative work in the office, and works to ensure general volunteer comfort.
Administrative Assistant: Onnapa “On” Sittinuan
On was also born and raised in Trang. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Arts, majoring in Tourism Industry. On is responsible for maintaining all financial records at the CCS Home-Base in Trang, including arrangements for volunteer lodging and comfort, overseeing the work of house-keepers, purchasing equipment and supplies for the house and office, and assisting CCS volunteers in many day-to-day activities.
House Keepers/Cooks: Tassanee "Jiew" Tongmark and Vasinee "Jia" Tongmak
Jiew and Jia are originally from Trang and have worked at the Home-Base in Trang for over a year. They keep the volunteers' rooms and the CCS' Home-Base tidy, and are responsible for cooking lunch and dinner for volunteers. Jiew enjoys learning a little English from the volunteers and likes to teach Thai to the volunteers. Jia is more shy and always has a smile on her face.
Driver: Preecha "Cha" Inthong
Cha was born and raised in Trang. He is responsible for transporting the volunteers to and from their placements each day, and for many of the Cultural & Learning Activities. He is also responsible for maintaining the vehicle in good and safe working condition at all time. He is very eager to learn and practice his English with volunteers. He is very friendly and always has a big smile.
