As a volunteer in Tanzania with CCS, you'll gain access to some of Africa's greatest sights, including Mount Kilimanjaro and numerous national parks teeming with wildlife.  You'll feel welcomed by the warmth of the Tanzanian people—including the Maasai, Sukuma, Chagga, and Meru tribes—and their strong family values. From the people you volunteer with, to neighbors near the CCS Home-Base, you'll enjoy new friends, challenges, and perspectives on life in Tanzania.

Since operations began in 2003, over 2,000 CCS volunteers in Tanzania have supported under-resourced community-led initiatives providing education, health, and social services to its residents. Tanzania receives the largest number of CCS volunteers each year.

Kilimanjaro

The Kilimanjaro Region is dominated both geographically and spiritually by Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain on the African continent. Waterfalls, coffee plantations, and banana fields add to the incredibly beautiful landscape. Volunteering in the Kilimanjaro Region provides you with a unique opportunity to get to know the local people as you live and work near the base of one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.

Bagamoyo

Bagamoyo, Arabic for "Lay down your heart," is a city rich in history and culture. Located in the coastal region of Tanzania, it is only 75 kilometers from Dar es Salaam, the financial capital and largest city of the country. Because of its proximity, volunteers have the opportunity to get a taste of a bustling African city in Dar, and also have the chance to truly get to know the community and local people in the smaller city of Bagamoyo.

Rural Kilimanjaro

Volunteer with CCS in Rural Kilimanjaro and enjoy village life in an area that is truly untouched by tourism. Located between Arusha, a gateway to safaris, and Moshi, the capital town at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, the area is home to farming settlers and the Chagga, Maasai, and Pare peoples. While these tribes continue to honor their own unique cultures and traditions, new small businesses are sprouting up to accommodate the community's growth. As a volunteer in Kilimanjaro, you'll see the unique sights and sounds of these traditional and modern worlds merging.
