Volunteer caring for an elderly woman in India.
The Intern Abroad program is an incredible opportunity for students to do an international internship or gain work experience in the areas of Education, Health, or Social Services. Cross-Cultural Solutions is a recognized leader in international volunteering, and our Intern Abroad program provides a supportive and academic framework to the volunteer experience. Since the entire program is carefully built from the learning objectives you define, you’ll be able to achieve your internship goals like you’ve never imagined.
With the Intern Abroad program, you’ll work on the same dynamic and inspiring community-led initiatives as other CCS volunteers, but you’ll have a built-in academic structure that will aid you in gaining a deeper understanding of the community’s culture, challenges, and customs. Intern Abroad is a meaningful and exciting option — many students even gain academic credit at their schools, ask us how.
What Can I Expect from CCS and the Intern Abroad Program?
All CCS programs feature our unique program design which includes a volunteer placement matching your skills and interests to the immediate needs of the community, Cultural & Learning Activities to learn more about the local culture and customs, Free Time for independent exploration, and lodging in a CCS Home-Base where you will stay with fellow volunteers. With CCS, you have the ultimate flexibility — you choose where you volunteer, when you go, and your length of stay.
The Intern Abroad program is unique because its academic structure will help you to make the most of your experience and apply it academically. Upon enrollment, you’ll choose an area of focus — Education, Health, or Social Services — and set your learning objectives. Once you’re in-country, you’ll be advised by a dedicated Intern Supervisor who is from the local community and knowledgeable in your chosen field. During your internship, you’ll keep a log of your experiences, and at the end, you’ll complete a summary project. Need help deciding if Intern Abroad is right for you?
