Age Policy
Although anyone can participate, Cross-Cultural Solutions does review every volunteer application carefully, screening our volunteers to ensure their safety and the safety of the communities in which our programs operate.
If you have any questions about these policies, please contact us and we will work with you to explain how the policies are applicable to you. All of our Program Enrollment staff are past Cross-Cultural Solutions participants and can help answer your questions and address any concerns you may have.
The minimum age requirement for volunteers on Cross-Cultural Solutions programs is 18 years old when unaccompanied by an adult. See our teens page for more information on 15 - 17 year old participants.
The minimum age for a child traveling with a parent or guardian is 8-years old. If a volunteer is between the ages of 8 and 18, the accompanying guardian must be a parent, legal guardian, or a person appointed by that parent or guardian. Exceptions to this policy have been made in the past (for example grandparents, aunts/uncles), please contact our Program Enrollment team for further details.
Children 12 years old and under (at program start date) are eligible to receive a $1,176 (£640) discount on the their program fee for Volunteer Abroad, and $825 (£449) discount on the program fee for Insight Abroad.
Cross-Cultural Solutions welcomes family participation in our programs. Some families may want to travel with children less than 8-years old, in which case the Cross-Cultural Solutions Country Director must give prior approval.
Cross-Cultural Solutions programs have no upper age limit.
