About CCS
Cross-Cultural Solutions is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1995. CCS has been operating international volunteer programs for over 10 years, with over 4,000 volunteers participating each year. CCS has a worldwide staff of over 300 people in 12 countries, with administrative offices also located in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. In the UK, Cross-Cultural Solutions is a Registered Charity (No. 1106741) and a Registered Company Limited by Guarantee (No. 4991010). In Canada, Cross-Cultural Solutions is a registered non-profit corporation (Federal Corporation No. 445810-9). Steven Rosenthal founded Cross-Cultural Solutions in 1995 and serves as its Executive Director.
Cross-Cultural Solutions has been profiled in more than 500 news outlets, including: CNN, The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, Time, Newsweek, The Chicago Tribune, The Toronto Star, The Today Show, USA Today, National Geographic Traveler, and the ABC Nightly News.
Cross-Cultural Solutions is recognized as an expert in its field by the United Nations, CARE, one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations, and the Brookings Institution.
Cross-Cultural solutions is committed to ensuring the safety, flexibility, professionalism, transparency, and excellence of our programs. Ensuring the highest quality of programming is an ongoing process, which is why all Cross-Cultural Solutions program sites undergo a comprehensive review process each year to assess their performance in the following areas: program quality, overall volunteer satisfaction, adherence to staff policies, medical procedure training, and security guidelines. We are dedicated to monitoring and continuously improving the volunteer experience on a daily basis. In 2007, overall program satisfaction was 97%.
We have also developed standards for our organization's Social Responsibility and operate our programs in accordance with this policy.

- The International Volunteer Programs Association (IVPA) is an alliance of non-profit, non-governmental organizations based in North America that are involved in international volunteer and internship exchanges.
- The Brookings Institution Building Bridges Coalition -- Cross-Cultural Solutions is proud to be a member of the Building Bridges Coalition, a project of the Brookings Institution focused on doubling the number of U.S. international volunteers. The Coalition aims to improve cross-cultural understanding through expanded international volunteer service, enhanced service quality and capacity, and dedication to positive impact across the globe. The Coalition includes leading international volunteer organizations, corporations, universities, and government agencies working collaboratively to increase international volunteerism. - The Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York (NPCC) is a non-profit membership corporation with over 1,100 New York City 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. Their goal is to protect and help the city's non-profit sector.
- The New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce is an association of business and professional people that serves as a catalyst to bring together economic and human resources in the City of New Rochelle, New York.
Cross-Cultural Solutions has been granted not-for-profit status by United States Internal Revenue Service and is also registered with The New York State Attorney General's Charities Bureau which is responsible for supervising the activity of charities to ensure that their funds are properly used.
